- עִלְעוֹל, עִי׳c. (עִלְעֵל I) whirlwind, hurricane. Cant. R. to III, 4 (ref. to כסופות, Is. 21:1) אין לך ע׳ קשה יותר מן העי׳ הזה … ומכסיףוכ׳ there is no wind more vehement than that which comes from the north and rises and makes pale the creatures in the south.Pl. עִלְעוֹלִין, עִי׳. Koh. R. to VII, 1 (read:) כמה ע׳ היא מזדווגת how many storms the ship may encounter.
